This map is a fleet zone assessment for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County. The map displays areas, or zones, in the tri-county region with higher concentrations of fleet operators, and higher frequency of heavy- and medium-duty truck through trips that are longer than 40 miles. The higher priority zones were also determined by examining the distance from a Pacific Gas & Electric DC Fast Charger Capacity Site as well as a Southern California Edison 15% Charging Capacity area. These results can be used to prioritize the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment.

The fleet data can be displayed in three different ways:

  • Fleet Regional Rankings – Zones in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County are collectively ranked and display the highest concentration of fleets.
  • Fleet Rankings By County – Zones in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County are ranked by county and display the highest concentration of fleets in each of the three counties.
  • Low-Income/Disadvantaged Top 5 Fleet Zones By County – The top 5 highest concentrated fleet zones in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County that are in low-income or disadvantaged areas.

There are other layers of information that can be displayed on the map. These layers include:

  • 2018 – PG&E DC Fast Charger Siting – Pacific Gas & Electric study which designates 1-mile radius areas that can support DC Fast Charger installation and where there is an expected unmet need for fast charging locations by 2025.
  • Oct. 2017 – SoCal Edison – 15% Available Electric Capacity – Southern California Edison service areas that have at least 15% available electric capacity.
  • 2018 AB 1550 – Low-Income Areas – Areas which are designated as low-income according to Assembly Bill 1550.
  • 2018 SB 535 – Disadvantaged Communities – Communities which are designated as disadvantaged according to Senate Bill 535.
  • Oct. 2017 – SoCal Edison Substation – Southern California Edison substations which steps down high voltage to lower voltage distribution, which significantly cuts costs of installing an EV Station.
  • Oct. 2017 – SoCal Edison Substation – 1 Mile Radius – A 1-mile radius around the substation indicating the available range of connection to the station.
  • Oct. 2017 – PG&E Substation – Pacific Gas & Electric substations which steps down high voltage to lower voltage distribution, which significantly cuts costs of installing an EV Station.
  • Oct. 2017 – PG&E Substation – 1 Mile Radius – A 1-mile radius around the substation indicating the available range of connection to the station.
